관계대명사

- 관계대명사 = 접속사 + 대명사

- 예시

: I have a friend. He has a dog.

= I have a friend who has a dog.

(여기서  who 는 관계대명사,   a friend  는 선행사)

 

- 종류

	주격	소유격	목적격
사람	who, that	whose	who, whom, that
동물, 사물	which, that	whose, of which	which, that
사람 + 동물, 사물	that		that

 

- 사용법

1. 반복되는 명사 / 대명사 를 찾음
2. 두 번째 문장에서 반복되는 명사 / 대명사를 지움
3. 두 문장을 관계대명사로 연결
4. 이때, 선행사의 종류와 지운 대명사의 격에 따라 관계대명사 결정

- 예시

• I have a brother. He likes to eat.
  = I have a brother who likes to eat.

: 선행사 - a brother / 관계대명사 - who

 

• My pet's name is Blue. It likes to swim.
  = My pet's name is Blue which likes to swim.

: 선행사 - Blue / 관계대명사 - which

 

• I saw a man and a woman. They were eating lunch.
  = I saw a man and a woman that were eating lunch.

: 선행사 - a man and a woman / 관계대명사 - that

- 예시

• I have a brother. His name is Justin.
  = I have a brother whose name is Justin.

: 선행사 - a brother / 관계대명사 - whose

 

• Jane is my friend. Her hobby is to sing.
  = Jane is my friend whose hobby is to sing.

: 선행사 - my friend / 관계대명사 - whose

 

• I have a rabbit. Its fur is very soft.
  = I have a rabbit of which fur is very soft.

: 선행사 - a rabbit / 관계대명사 - of which

- 예시

• I have a brother. I love him very much.
  = I have a brother whom I love very much.

: 선행사 - a brother / 관계대명사 - whom

 

• I have two uncles. I'm going to visit them tonight.
  = I have two uncles who I'm going to visit tonight.

: 선행사 - two uncles / 관계대명사 - who

 

• This is the birthday card. I got it from my best friend.
  = This is the birthday card which I got from my best friend.
